Art On The Mart

  • The objective was to design a 12” x 16” poster promoting Chicago’s Art on the Mart event, using typography as the primary visual element to capture the viewer’s interest and imagination. The poster could incorporate shapes, lines, and color but no images. The provided text had to be included in its entirety, with allowances for minor edits such as punctuation removal.

As part of the project, the design also needed to be adapted into a social media post using the square dimensions of Instagram. This adaptation aimed to maintain the visual appeal and message of the original poster while fitting the constraints of the platform.

  • The poster successfully captured attention through its bold typography, use of perspective, and strategic layering of text and shapes. Viewers were drawn to the key event details, such as the artist and date, while the overall design encouraged them to explore further information. The social media post effectively translated the design into a digital space, ensuring the event’s message reached a broader audience.
